This exclusive use camp is a community-run initiative on the slopes of Mount Gorongosa. The Mt Gorongosa Community Camp is set up for each booking offering an opportunity to explore the high altitude montane rainforest of Mount Gorongosa while making a significant contribution to conservation and the upliftment of local communities.

The camp is closely tied to the Gorongosa Honey and Coffee Projects, which support sustainable livelihoods while protecting the environment. Visitors learn about these initiatives and how they contribute to preserving Mount Gorongosa.

Activities include hiking to breathtaking waterfalls, early morning birding with opportunities to spot rare species like the Green-headed Oriole and Mount Gorongosa pygmy chameleon, and swimming in natural pools.

With five tents accommodating up to ten adults and shared bathroom facilities, the camp offers a simple but impactful stay. Guests can access the camp via a scenic drive through local communities to the mountain.

Requiring a minimum stay of two nights, the camp is designed for adventurous travellers and up and must be booked in conjunction with a two-night stay at one of Gorongosa’s other camps or lodges.
